A quirky Cotswold extension and renovation project

Blending the old with the new provides the perfect opportunity to create stunning living spaces that work hard, are practical, adaptable and yet retain character and charm. Essentially it’s all about establishing harmony and balance – a valuable haven for increasingly busy lives!

It was important to get the old and the new to meet sympathetically, blending old character charm with a clean, contemporary, open feel.  However, sometimes this 'blending' is achieved through highlighting the differences between the old and new rather than trying to match and reproduce the old. Therefore, the selection of materials and glazing for the new extension was crucial. By ensuring that only glass met with the original Cotswold stone exterior walls when connecting the extension, the character of the old was preserved and highlighted.
